Who we are
“Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” Albert Einstein
Think Like a Nurse, LLC. was established in 2024 by its founder Takara Butler-Whitfield during a time when she realized that health literacy was not a well embraced topic in preventing health disparities. A decorated registered nurse, who obtained a BSN from an HBCU, Southern University A&M College in 2008 and dual master’s degrees from the University of Phoenix in 2017 in Nursing and Healthcare Administration, understood the assignment of self-knowledge. Too often are patients seen within their most vulnerable times of health to be given complex directions, medications and actions to perform independently. Given the demands on healthcare workers with limited time at discharge or provider visits, patients often leave more confused, at risk for medical errors and readmissions. In the state of awareness, she decided to take steps of faith and began having discussions while creating opportunities to promote health literacy as a preventative measure to improved health. Takara’s knowledge, compassion as a nurse and ability to make the complex simple is what distinguishes her from any other. Her ability to engage, listen, use of creative approach and ability to ignite self-confidence makes the difference in becoming one’s own advocate for health. Takara understands that a healthier community has innumerable outcomes. Not only is Takara passionate about the current state of healthcare, but those who lead as nurses. She commits to tutoring sessions for all levels of nursing students to help facilitate learning. As nursing students are supported, more will graduate with full confidence in their abilities thus addressing the nursing shortage we now face. Nurses are the future of healthcare through best-practices. Think Like a Nurse, LLC. is only the beginning of what healthcare will become through continued knowledge.
